Lake Life with an Almost One Year Old

Hi Mamas!

We just got back from our first family holiday and I wanted to hop on here and give you a round up of my must haves for a week at the lake with my almost one year old.

My family has been going to this particular spot for generations so I was beyond excited to bring Goldie here. She had the best time; loved the water, made friends with every kid she came across, and had her first frosty. It was great for me and my mental health as well. I’m finding that it’s easy to fall into the rut of routine as a new mom and the change of scenery that our little vacay brought was just what I needed.

I packed SO many clothes for G for the week and she ended up wearing her swimsuit the majority of the time. My favorites are by Jamie Kay, the cuts and ditsy prints are perfection.

We spent a lot of time in and on the water, so sunscreen was crucial. We are loving Pipette’s mineral sunscreen. It’s lightweight, moisturizing, and the ingredients are clean. It also absorbs quickly so I haven’t had a problem with greasy sunscreen stains on everything.

Goldie loves a straw cup, this one from Target was perfect for keeping her hydrated while running around all day. It’s insulated so it kept her water or coconut water cold, and the top closure was great for keeping the sand out while she wasn’t using it.

I also picked up a beach towel that folds into a bag before our trip and it was a big hit. I couldn’t find mine online, but I have attached a similar one. G is all about bags and shoes at the moment so she loved helping me pack it in the mornings. She also loved carrying it around.

Water shoes are a must! Walking on the sand and in the water is a bit tricky so these helped with traction. They were also great for keeping her feet safe from rocks, fish hooks, and the hot floor of the boat.

My cousin brought the Blue Sol Giant Cabana float by FunBoy and it was the best! It has mesh foot baths and a center storage compartment that were both perfect for water play while on it. It’s such a great size too, the whole family was able to enjoy.

I also want to note that our pop up beach tent and stroller fan came in handy. Goldie is always so busy, she didn’t really hang in the tent, but both items were ideal when I needed to breastfeed.
